Tripura is being developed as a strong Education Hub, with education considered the main pillar of the state’s overall development, said Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha.

He made these remarks while addressing the Platinum Jubilee closing ceremony of Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan held at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan, Agartala.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the state government has undertaken well-structured and goal-oriented initiatives, keeping education as the primary foundation for development. As a result, Tripura has emerged as the third fully literate state in India, with a current literacy rate of 95.6 percent, marking a historic achievement.

He further noted that the present education system not only focuses on textbooks but also nurtures students’ human values, discipline, modern technological knowledge, sense of responsibility, and patriotism.

Referring to Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan, the Chief Minister emphasized that the school has a distinct heritage and prestige, serving not only as an educational institution but also as a platform for character building, discipline, and patriotism. The school has long played a key role in shaping society and the nation, with its students achieving recognition both nationally and internationally.

He also paid tribute to those who contributed to the establishment of the school. Addressing the students, the Chief Minister said, “Education has no end—it is a lifelong journey. It is the bridge that connects ignorance with knowledge and darkness with light.” Quoting Swami Vivekananda, he said, “Education is the development of the inherent perfection of man.” Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he added that education is not merely textbook knowledge but also a tool for value-building, development, and nation-building.

CM Saha also outlined the state’s comprehensive education initiatives, including:

  • Personalized adaptive learning in schools

  • Transformation of Vidyajyoti schools

  • ICT facilities and smart classrooms

  • Tinkering labs

  • Super 30 project

  • Free bicycles for girl students

  • Chief Minister’s Annual State Award

  • Implementation of the National Education Policy

  • T-Square method, Vidyasetu module, Mission Mukul, and other student-centric programmes

  • PM Janman project

  • Eklavya Model Residential School

  • Drone-based education initiatives

He added that Tripura is progressing in education, health, agriculture, and law & order, with continuous efforts to enhance quality education through infrastructure development, digital learning, and student welfare projects. CM Saha described the day as a significant milestone in the school’s history and wished for its continued success.

Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharya lauded Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan’s rich heritage and expressed confidence that the students would carry forward the National Education Policy in their future endeavors.

Other speakers included School Management Committee Secretary and former MLA Dr. Dilip Das, while Assistant Headmistress Barnali Majumdar delivered the welcome address. The event was also attended by former Headmaster Tapan Chakraborty and other distinguished guests.
