As on every day, on Saturday the police of Ganganagar Police Station in Dhalai district began checking various vehicles at the Naka Point. At that time, when a vehicle bearing registration number TR-01-0759 was coming from Gandacherra towards Ambassa, the police signalled it to stop for checking. But the vehicle broke through the barricade and fled. The police chased the vehicle from behind. The driver abandoned the vehicle at Purna Joy Para and escaped.

Police then noticed another vehicle, bearing registration number TR-01-CA-0763. Upon searching both vehicles, they recovered a total of 547 kg of dry cannabis packed in multiple packets, with an estimated market value of around ₹2 crore. Meanwhile, the police stated that two individuals loitering near the vehicles had been detained on suspicion and were being interrogated. Both individuals are residents of South Tripura district.

Participating in the operation were Sub-Divisional Police Officer Nirupam Dutta, OC Gautam Debbarma, Inspector Babul Mahajan, and others. The police also recovered several number plates from the two vehicles.
