On Friday, November 7, the nation celebrated the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram,” the national song written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. To mark this milestone, Prime Minister Narendra Modi directed that year-long celebrations be held across various levels throughout the country.

Accordingly, along with all other states, Tripura also began its year-long celebration of the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram” on Friday, November 7. In the state, the events will be held in four phases throughout the year.

The central program took place at the State Secretariat (Mahakaran) and was attended by Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha, Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha, and Secretary of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department Pradip Chakraborty, among others.

On the same day, the celebration was organized simultaneously in all districts, sub-divisions, blocks, municipal councils, nagar panchayats, as well as in government offices and educational institutions across the state.

While addressing the central program, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that the Union Cabinet had decided in October 2025 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the national song “Vande Mataram.”
