A press conference was held on Tuesday at the BJP State Headquarters in Agartala. Present at the conference were Minister for Tribal Welfare Bikas Debbarma, BJP State General Secretary Bipin Debbarma, and Media In-charge Sumit Sarkar.

During the press meet, BJP State General Secretary Bipin Debbarma announced that, to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, special programmes will be held on November 13, 14, and 15 in different districts. As part of the celebration, tribal community leaders in each district will be felicitated.

On November 15, a grand procession will be organized from Umakanta Ground in Agartala, which will be attended by the Chief Minister, State BJP President, and several other dignitaries. The main state-level function will be held in Khumulwng later in the day.

During the press conference, Minister Bikas Debbarma strongly criticized CPI(M) leader Jitendra Choudhury, calling him a “curse for the tribal people,” and asserted that “the CPI(M) will never return to power.”

He further stated that the state has received the green signal for establishing a Tribal University, and discussions are ongoing regarding hostel facilities and other infrastructure. The minister also remarked that the current administration in ADC areas is functioning effectively and that “the people will give their final verdict on the 26th.”

Criticizing the previous Left Front government, he said that for 35 years they deprived the tribal communities and did not want to spread the light of education among them.
