The public meeting of the 12th State Conference of the Tripura Farmworkers’ Union was held at Rabindra Choumuhani in Sonamura. With this public gathering, the two-day state conference begins today. The main speaker at the public meeting was the former Chief Minister of the state, Manik Sarkar.

In his address, the main speaker said that the BJP-led central government is indulging in politics based on caste across the country. “They are not thinking about workers, farmers, and the toiling masses. Instead, they are threatening to discontinue MGNREGA work. Altogether, this central government is creating political unrest. Workers across the state and country must unite and build movements,” he said.

A total of 350 delegates from across the state participated in the conference. After the public meeting, the second phase of the conference began at the Sonamura Town Hall.
