On Tuesday, a press conference was organized at the IPFT party office in Krishnanagar, Agartala. Present at the conference were IPFT General Secretary Swapan Debbarma, President Pradeep Debbarma, and Office Secretary Buddha Debbarma.
Speaking at the press conference, Secretary Swapan Debbarma said that on 15 December 2025, the National Federation of New States (NFNS) and the Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) will jointly organize a one-day sit-in demonstration at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi. The demands include the formation of a separate state and the passing of the 125th Constitutional Amendment Bill, 2019 during the upcoming Winter Session of Parliament. Representatives of NFNS from all North-Eastern states, including Tripura, will participate in the sit-in demonstration. From Tripura, the IPFT aims to send around 100 representatives.
The IPFT will raise the demand for forming a separate Tipraland state comprising the TTA-ADC areas, and for passing the 125th Constitutional Amendment Bill, 2019 in the Winter Session to upgrade the TTA-ADC to the Tipra Territorial Council, as recommended by the Council of Ministers of the Tripura Legislative Assembly.
In addition, all MDCs of ADCs in the North-East and all MLAs will be requested to write to the Union Home Minister by the end of December, urging that the bill be passed in the Winter Session of Parliament.
The IPFT leadership has directed all division presidents and secretaries to send at least three representatives from each division. The responsibility of arranging train ticket bookings and other necessary arrangements has been given to the Treasurer of IPFT and the Treasurer of Youth IPFT. All participating representatives have been asked to contact them for ticket bookings.
