“Mahila Congress to Launch Statewide Movement Demanding Revival of MGNREGA.”

The All India National Congress has launched a 45-day nationwide agitation demanding the restoration of the MGNREGA Act. The movement began on January 8 and will continue till February 25. All wings and frontal organisations of the All India National Congress will participate in this agitation.
In the state, the Pradesh Congress has already joined the movement from January 8. On January 10, District Congress Committees across all districts of the state held press conferences. On January 11, hunger strike programmes were organised under the initiative of the District Congress Committees.
Following the Pradesh Congress, the Mahila Congress will also intensify the movement in the state demanding the restoration of the MGNREGA Act. To finalise the agitation programme, a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Pradesh Mahila Congress was held on Monday at the Congress Bhavan. Present at the meeting was All India Mahila Congress General Secretary Linkim Haukhip Shingnaisui Kim.
Prior to the executive committee meeting, she addressed a press conference at the Congress Bhavan. Among those present at the press conference were Pradesh Mahila Congress President Sarbani Ghosh Chakraborty, Youth Congress President Neel Kamal Saha, Pradesh Congress spokesperson Prabir Chakraborty, along with other leaders.
Addressing the media, the All India Mahila Congress General Secretary and Tripura in-charge stated that the Mahila Congress would build a strong and relentless movement in the state demanding the restoration of the REGA Act. She said that leaders of the Mahila Congress at the block, district, and state levels would unite the people and carry forward this struggle. She further added that the BJP issues threats, but the Mahila Congress is not afraid of threats or intimidation.
Speaking at the press conference, Pradesh Mahila Congress President Sarbani Ghosh Chakraborty called upon people from all sections of society to come forward and participate in the Congress-led movement demanding the restoration of the MGNREGA Act.
