In Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today released the 21st installment of ₹18,000 crore under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme for farmers across the country. Nearly 9 crore farmers will benefit from this installment. At the same time, the Prime Minister also inaugurated the South India Natural Farming Summit 2025 at the Codissia Trade Fair Complex in Coimbatore.
Addressing the summit, the Prime Minister said that over the past 11 years, multiple transformational reforms have taken place in the agriculture sector. India is emerging as a global hub for natural farming, and the country’s biodiversity is gaining new strength. He further stated that agricultural exports have doubled, and the government has taken several initiatives to modernise agriculture. More than ₹10 lakh crore has been made available to farmers through the Kisan Credit Card scheme. Additionally, farmers have benefited greatly from the reduction of GST on bio-fertilizers.
The Prime Minister said that the younger generation of the country now views agriculture as a modern and scalable opportunity. He emphasised the need for collective efforts to build a future-ready agricultural system to achieve the vision of a developed India. He urged farmers to adopt natural farming methods on at least one acre of land for one season and witness the results for themselves.
Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan stated that 22 lakh farmers in Tamil Nadu have already benefited from the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.
On this day, the Prime Minister interacted directly with farmers and felicitated five eminent natural farming experts. The exhibition showcased organic products, innovations in natural farming, and best agricultural practices. The Prime Minister also visited stalls displaying various products prepared by farmers from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka.
